Three merged PRs: making evidence, exports, and discovery easier to trust
In October 2026, three of my PRs merged: Refund Desk on October 2, Grain Studio on October 5, and my website on October 22. Across different interfaces, I worked on the same problem: making useful features preserve their context, constraints, and evidence. These are my PR changes, not a claim that I authored every underlying project.
October 2: keep refund evidence separate from payment authority
My Refund Desk PR added a source-backed review workflow for contradictory customer messages. Customer statements remain claims; merchant confirmations and PayPal facts stay distinct. The workbench retains quoted findings, policy references, immutable clarifications, and original and revised reviews. That separation matters because a convincing summary should not silently turn an allegation into an established fact.
Operator approval binds the exact saved review, case version, and full USD sandbox amount. A durable submission claim precedes the refund, and an independent readback verifies its result. I see the reusable lesson as binding consequential actions to a specific, saved decision—not merely to whatever an interface happens to display later.
The evidence also records limitations: exact quotation validation does not establish semantic accuracy. I want that distinction to remain visible. Traceable text helps a reviewer inspect reasoning, but it does not make the reasoning automatically correct.
October 5: improve image quality without breaking existing contracts
My Grain Studio changes restored image replacement and touch comparison on narrow screens while keeping the phone dock clear of controls. Silver Grain is deterministic and colour-preserving without changing existing effect IDs or recipe URLs. That compatibility constraint matters: a new rendering option should not invalidate an existing saved look or shared recipe.
PNG/WebP alpha is preserved, and JPEG white flattening is disclosed. I also added bounded worker exports, cancellation, exact-format validation, and image-dimension checks before decoding. The engineering lesson is to treat export behavior as part of the product contract, not as a final download button.
The PR also kept Harshith Vaddiparthy creator credit visible on desktop and phone, with a linked profile and indexable metadata. I preserved free, account-free local processing, saved looks, recipe sharing, and offline use rather than presenting this contribution as a replacement for the whole project.
October 22: make website content discoverable with its context intact
On my website, /diffs gained six dated, source-linked publication records, category filters, stable anchors, and an RSS feed. Header search and Cmd/Ctrl+K open a keyboard-accessible result panel. Shareable search URLs, prefix matching, and typo support make discovery useful without requiring an AI service.
The photo gallery presents 40 post covers and a viewer for 119 photographs. Original captions, posting dates and Instagram source links are retained. Year filters and keyboard navigation add convenience while preserving the provenance of the material.
My broader lesson from these three merges is to improve usability without erasing boundaries: claims versus facts, rendering changes versus compatibility, and discovery versus source context. These dates record merges, not production deployments. The supplied desktop gallery screenshot is a static visual reference, not proof of working search, accessibility, or mobile behavior.
